As an engineering learner at Valterra Platinum, participants will train under experienced master artisans and engineering supervisors across operational plants and smelters. The available engineering discipline tracks include Fitter, Boilermaker, Rigger, Electrician, Instrument Mechanician, and Millwright. Successful completion of both off-the-job training modules and workplace experience will culminate in a nationally recognized, trade-tested artisan qualification that provides a solid foundation for long-term career growth in the South African mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively in both institutional theoretical training and structured practical workplace assessments.

• Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures, occupational health and safety policies, and mine compliance standards at all times.

• Assist qualified artisans with planned preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and technical fault troubleshooting on plant machinery.

• Learn and execute proper tool usage, equipment handling, precision fitting, welding, wiring, or instrument calibration depending on the specific trade discipline.

• Maintain a comprehensive logbook detailing daily workplace engineering activities, verified competencies, and practical exposure milestones.

• Complete all trade-related formative assessments, summative tests, and trade test preparation modules within the allocated timeframe.
