Dis-Chem Pharmacies invites dynamic and motivated individuals to apply for the Dispensary Support Learnership Programme across multiple branches in South Africa. This comprehensive development opportunity aims to employ eligible candidates capable of successfully completing the Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Appointed candidates will initially be employed in a fixed-term Dispensary Support role to gain practical exposure, mastering core dispensing principles, medicine handling, customer care, and pharmacy operations before transitioning toward permanent employment upon qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and approved scheduled health substances under pharmacist supervision.

• Support the compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and dispensary guidelines.

• Accurately pick, pack, label, and prepare medications while verifying stock against prescriptions for final pharmacist authorization.

• Assist in stock management, rotation, shelf merchandising, expiry date tracking, and cleanliness across dispensary and over-the-counter (OTC) shelves.

• Learn and execute accurate script interpretation in accordance with SAPC legal frameworks and ethical healthcare practices.

• Communicate professionally with patients regarding prescription tracking, chronic medicine delivery, and appointment scheduling.

• Assist dispensary management with medical scheme authorizations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication.

• Receive incoming pharmaceutical stock and promptly report low stock, out-of-stock items, or inventory discrepancies.
