Job Description
Air Liquide is seeking a Production Intern to support the daily operations of their production facility. The role is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the industrial gas manufacturing process, emphasizing safety, quality control, and operational efficiency. You will work under the guidance of experienced plant managers to monitor production cycles, assist with the filling and handling of industrial cylinders, and ensure that all equipment is maintained according to strict international standards.
Key responsibilities include assisting with process troubleshooting, performing quality checks on gas samples, and documenting production data for compliance and reporting. A major focus of this internship is on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols, where you will be expected to participate in safety audits and contribute to a "Zero Harm" working environment. This is a foundational role that offers a pathway into plant management or specialized process engineering.
Job Type: 12-Month Internship
Salary: R7,500 β R10,500 per month (Research Estimate: Based on standardized graduate intern stipends for the chemical and industrial gas sector in the Eastern Cape).
Requirements
Education: A recently completed National Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Academic Record: Strong academic performance in core technical modules.
Safety Mindset: A deep commitment to workplace safety and the ability to follow rigorous Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Technical Skills: Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and industrial plant operations.
Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for data entry and reporting.
Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, physical fitness to work in an industrial plant environment, and a proactive learning attitude.
Eligibility: Must be an unemployed South African citizen.
