Job Description
The National Youth Service (NYS) is offering a significant opportunity for 100,000 young South Africans to gain valuable practical work experience and skills development over a six-month period. This programme is designed to empower unemployed youth, particularly those not in education, employment, or training (NEET), by providing them with community service experience and exposure that can enhance their future career prospects. The initiative encourages active participation and positive contributions to local communities, fostering a sense of civic responsibility among participants. Young individuals living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply, promoting inclusivity within the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Engage in practical work experience for six months.
Participate in skills development opportunities provided by the programme.
Undertake community service, contributing positively to the local community.
Travel to designated implementing partner sites as required.
Adhere to programme guidelines and contribute to its successful completion.
Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn throughout the programme.

Requirements
Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
Be between 18 and 35 years old.
Live within the local municipality or community where the programme site is located.
Be able to travel to the implementing partner’s site.
Be unemployed and preferably not in education, employment or training (NEET).
Be willing to contribute positively to the community.
Be able to complete the programme successfully.
Must not have participated in previous NYS programme phases.
