Multimedia Production Assistant Intern at Daily Maverick

Daily Maverick's multimedia team is seeking a motivated Multimedia Production Assistant Intern for a 6-month opportunity. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about transforming finished stories into compelling visual and social media content. You will gain hands-on experience across various stages of content production, including research, scripting, fact-checking, social media production, and publishing. This internship focuses on working with existing material to adapt it for different platforms, rather than generating original coverage. You will collaborate closely with the multimedia team, contributing to the final output of video and social content.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing background information, source links, and archival material for each story entering production.

• Review and refine first-pass video scripts based on editor feedback and original story content.

• Conduct thorough fact-checking of scripts and on-screen text against source material to ensure absolute accuracy before publication.

• Produce a variety of social media content from finished videos, including cutdowns, vertical clips, quote cards, and captioned stills, utilizing tools like Canva and Adobe Premiere/DaVinci Resolve.

• Manage the posting of content across social media channels and meticulously track post-performance data to understand platform dynamics and algorithms.

• Gather background information, archival material, and sourcing for longer-form documentary projects.

• Update and repackage older video content for current social media distribution.

• Work with existing stories and material to adapt them for various digital platforms.
