Medical Management Intern at Road Accident Fund

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is offering a valuable Internship opportunity within its Medical Management division. This program is designed to foster youth skills development by providing unemployed graduates with essential work-based experience. The internship will run for a period of eighteen (18) months, offering a comprehensive introduction to the complexities of medical claims administration and management within the context of motor vehicle accident victim support. The RAF's core mission is to deliver timely and equitable assistance to individuals affected by road accidents, ensuring financial relief and facilitating recovery through appropriate social benefits. This internship is a key initiative in achieving that mission by nurturing the next generation of professionals in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the administration of injury assessments and undertakings, including drafting, issuing, and activating relevant documentation.

• Manage the caregiver management process effectively.

• Conduct bill reviews, processing medical invoices for Supplier Claims, Past Medical expenses, and future medical expenses.

• Utilize risk management tools in bill review, applying medical tariffs, clinical codes, and treatment protocols to ensure compliance with RAF guidelines and managed healthcare principles.

• Participate in the implementation and maintenance of a formal exception handling process within medical management.

• Maintain documentation and regularly update the exception handling process.

• Manage stakeholder relationships, following up on and resolving queries within predefined turnaround times.

• Engage with external stakeholders, including participating in road shows, consulting with claimant families, service providers, and direct claimants.

• Perform general office administration, including filing and data capturing related to the claims administration process.
