Maintenance Handyman at Eduvos Tyger Valley

Eduvos is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Handyman on a permanent basis to join the Facilities and Property Management team at the Tyger Valley campus in the Western Cape. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all planned and reactive maintenance across campus facilities is executed efficiently and timeously, creating a safe, functional, and clean learning environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and general repairs across campus buildings, grounds, and facilities, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.

• Respond promptly and effectively to logged maintenance requests to minimize operational disruptions.

• Conduct systematic inspections of campus property and infrastructure to identify maintenance issues early and manage asset control.

• Install, replace, and repair campus fixtures, fittings, and appliances such as lighting, ceiling fans, locks, doors, and sanitary ware.

• Maintain all maintenance tools, machinery, and equipment in safe, operational working condition while strictly adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act standards.

• Collaborate effectively with external contractors and internal facilities personnel during major repairs and structural refurbishment projects.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and records of all maintenance work, repairs completed, and routine inspection schedules.

• Assist with general exterior upkeep, campus grounds maintenance, and light landscaping duties as required.

• Act as a designated driver for campus transport requirements, including occasional after-hours and weekend duties when necessary.

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (Technical Certificate is an advantage).

• Relevant technical certifications in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or a related trade.

• Proven working experience as a handyman, building maintenance worker, or in a similar technical role.

• Strong knowledge of general maintenance practices, basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.

• Ability to read blueprints, layout plans, and technical manuals.

• Sound knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.

• Basic computer literacy (MS Office suite).

• Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.

• Valid South African driver’s license with reliable transportation.
