Job Description
Rosebank College is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for an exciting IT Support Internship opportunity. This role is designed to give an aspiring IT professional hands-on, practical experience in resolving real-world end-user problems, troubleshooting technical hardware and software issues, and understanding IT operations within the higher education landscape under the direct mentorship of experienced First and Second Line technical managers.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver first-line technical support to staff, faculty, and students, resolving user hardware and software queries promptly.
Shadow and collaborate with First and Second Line Technical Managers to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical incidents.
Assist in maintaining campus computer labs, printers, audiovisual presentation equipment, and network connectivity.
Log, track, and manage IT support tickets ensuring adherence to internal service level agreements (SLAs).
Support the deployment, configuration, and regular updating of operating systems, anti-virus software, and campus productivity applications.
Promote IT security best practices and ensure user compliance with data protection policies.
Participate actively in administrative IT operational tasks and asset management audits across the campus.

Requirements
South African citizenship (preference given to Employment Equity candidates).
Relevant Diploma, Higher Certificate, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Foundational understanding of computer hardware, software installations, operating systems, and basic networking.
Knowledge and understanding of South African higher education systems and regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical aptitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all staff levels.
Customer service orientation with exceptional attention to detail.
Effective time management and organizational skills to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
