Job Description
Absa Bank is offering an exceptional Industrial and Organisational Psychology Internship for 2027, designed for aspiring professionals eager to make a significant impact within a leading Pan-African financial institution. Programme Duration
The internship will run for 12 months, commencing on 01 February 2027 and concluding at the end of January 2028. Interns are required to complete 260 days of the programme within this 12-month period, ensuring comprehensive exposure and development.
Programme Domains
The internship programme is structured around six core domains, ensuring a holistic development experience. Interns are required to complete all domains during the internship period:
- Organisational psychology
- Human resource / personnel psychology
- Career psychology and employee wellness / wellbeing
- Testing and assessment
- Elective project
- Professional ethics
Supervision and Evaluation
Throughout the internship, interns will benefit from dual supervision to ensure comprehensive guidance and support. They will be assigned:
- An internal senior Industrial Psychologist within Absa.
- An external Industrial Psychologist from a recognised academic institution.
Interns will be evaluated through a detailed logbook and quarterly reports, reflecting their contributions to the organisation and the Industrial Psychology profession. This structured approach ensures continuous learning and professional growth.

Requirements
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have strong academic performance in Honours.
- Must have completed M1 or be on track to complete M1 by January 2027.
- Must be registered as a Student Psychologist with the HPCSA.
- Must be based in Johannesburg from 01 February 2027 to the end of January 2028.
