Job Description
The Department of Transport invites applications from qualifying, energetic, and ambitious South African graduates to participate in its prestigious Graduate Internship Programme for the 2026 / 2027 financial period. This 24-month developmental contract is specifically designed to provide young professionals with meaningful, practical work exposure in various public sector transport sub-sectors, administrative fields, and technical domains. Key Responsibilities
Assist in daily operational administration, record-keeping, and document management across designated directorates.
Support research, data analytics, and policy standard formulation across aviation, maritime, rail, and road transport disciplines.
Participate in project coordination, compliance monitoring, and reporting activities within specific municipal, provincial, or national projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on technical evaluations, civil and transport logistics planning, or financial accounting tasks.
Conduct routine inspections, system reviews, and quality assurance workflows relevant to your placement branch.
Prepare comprehensive reports, stakeholder meeting summaries, and presentations for management review.
Support organizational development, human resources administration, legal reviews, or public relation initiatives based on unit allocation.

Requirements
Must be an unemployed South African graduate citizen.
Must never have participated in any developmental or internship programme previously.
Relevant National Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, LLB, or Postgraduate qualification related to the specific field of interest (Public Administration, Financial Management, Auditing, Law, IT, Computer Science, HR, Safety, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, GIS, Environmental Management, Maritime Studies, Aviation Management, Transport Economics, Logistics, Statistics, or Town Planning).
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Sound computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to commit full-time to a 24-month internship contract.
