Job Description
SANParks is offering an exciting Graduate Internship Programme for 2026, providing unemployed South African graduates with a unique opportunity to gain practical work experience within a leading conservation agency. This 24-month programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic study and professional employment, offering exposure to various corporate functions critical to the management and operation of South Africa's national parks. Interns will contribute to SANParks' mission of conservation and tourism, developing valuable skills and insights in a dynamic and impactful environment.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be placed in various departments corresponding to their fields of study, such as Law, Corporate Governance, Public Administration, and Business Administration. Responsibilities may include assisting with policy research and development, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, providing administrative support to senior management, coordinating projects, conducting data analysis, preparing reports, and contributing to strategic planning initiatives. Interns will gain practical experience in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges within a public sector and conservation context, fostering professional growth and development.Internship Duration
The SANParks Internship Programme will run for 24 months. This extended duration allows for comprehensive learning and integration into the organizational culture, providing interns with a substantial period to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to SANParks' objectives. It is important to note that the internship provides temporary workplace experience and does not guarantee permanent employment after completion. SANParks is under no obligation to employ interns once the programme ends.Internship Stipend
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R6 335.69. Applicants who live outside Pretoria must be willing to arrange and pay for their own accommodation, transport, relocation expenses, and daily travel costs. - Be South African citizens.
- Be unemployed graduates.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Have completed a National Diploma or degree at NQF Level 6 or 7.
- Have obtained the qualification from a South African higher-education institution.
- Have studied in one of the listed fields: Law, Corporate Governance, Public Administration, Business Administration.
- Not have participated in a previous internship or placement programme.
- Not have previously been formally employed.
- Be available for the full 24-month programme.
- Academic qualification and transcript must clearly reflect the relevant field of study.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications are responsible for having them evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
