Job Description
Medtronic is seeking a motivated and driven individual to join their South Africa Business Finance team as a Finance Intern. This internship programme offers invaluable hands-on experience in critical financial functions, including financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, performance management, and financial governance within a leading global healthcare company. The successful candidate will report to the South Africa Finance Business Partner and will play a supportive role in recurring finance processes across South Africa, with exposure to selected South ACEE (Africa, Central & Eastern Europe) markets. This role is designed to foster analytical insight and enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting and decision support. Through this 12-month programme, interns will build confidence in supporting finance activities independently, developing robust commercial and analytical skills essential for a career in finance. The position is based in Midrand, Johannesburg, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week in the office. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those nearing completion of their degrees to gain practical experience in a dynamic multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the monthly financial performance reporting cycle, including detailed analysis of actuals, variance explanations, and the preparation of comprehensive management information packs.
Assist in the forecasting, Latest Estimate (LBE), and annual planning processes by preparing and maintaining finance templates, validating data, and consolidating inputs from various stakeholders.
Provide support for recurring Business Finance activities across South Africa and designated South ACEE markets, which includes preparing financial analyses and other essential finance deliverables.
Maintain and update finance trackers, supporting schedules, and recurring reporting files, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the consistency, accuracy, and efficiency of financial reporting processes.
Foster and maintain cross-functional relationships, collaborating with Regional FP&A, Controllership, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Finance colleagues across South Africa and selected South ACEE markets to gather necessary inputs.
Assist in documenting and tracking agreed finance governance actions, risks, and opportunities, thereby developing a solid understanding of financial controls and business processes within the organization.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree completed or nearing completion in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Economics, or a related field.
Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; ability and willingness to learn financial systems and reporting tools.
Strong numerical and analytical ability, with good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with financial data while meeting deadlines.
A proactive, learning-oriented mindset with ownership of assigned tasks, and the confidence to work collaboratively across different functions and countries.
Must be currently unemployed.
Must be a South African citizen.
Must be under the age of 30.
Have not participated in a YES programme previously.
Postgraduate study or progress toward a professional accounting qualification is advantageous.
