Job Description
Eskom is offering a comprehensive Learnership and Graduate Internship Programme for 2026 at its Tutuka Power Station. Key Responsibilities
- For Learner Artisans: Engage in hands-on training across mechanical, electrical, and control & instrumentation (C&I) trades. This includes assisting with routine maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installations of power generation equipment, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
- For Engineer in Training: Participate in various engineering projects within the Engineering and Operating Departments. Responsibilities may include conducting technical analyses, assisting with design and implementation of solutions, optimising plant performance, and contributing to operational efficiency across disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Process, Metallurgy, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
- For Learner Plant Operators: Undergo rigorous training in the monitoring and control of power plant systems. This involves learning to operate various equipment, conducting routine inspections, responding to operational anomalies, and ensuring the safe and efficient generation of electricity, all while adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.
- Actively participate in all institutionalised and practical on-the-job training modules.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of training progress, tasks performed, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to achieve operational goals.

Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens.
For Learner Artisan opportunities, applicants must meet one of the following qualification routes:
National N6 Certificate with relevant Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics trade subjects, or an N4/N5 Certificate with trade subjects.
Grade 12 with Mathematics 50%, Physical Science 50% and English 40%.
N3 with Mathematics 50%, Engineering Science 50% and English 40%.
NCV Level 4 with Mathematics 50%, Science 50% and English 40%.
For Engineer in Training opportunities, applicants must have a fully completed BEng or BSc Engineering degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Process Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
For Learner Plant Operator opportunities, applicants must meet one of the following qualification routes:
Grade 12 with Mathematics 50%, Physical Science 50% and English 40%.
N3 with Mathematics 50%, Science 50% and English 40%.
NCV Level 4 with Mathematics 50%, Science 50% and English 40%.
National N4/N5 Certificate with Trade Subjects, National N6 Certificate with Trade Subjects, National Diploma, BTech, BEng or BSc.
