Key Responsibilities
- Under the direct guidance of producers and senior cameramen, actively assist with and learn to meticulously plan and develop the visual presentation of news inserts, gradually building proficiency in creative and technical filming techniques.
- Master the art of setting up optimal lighting conditions and recording sound of exceptional quality, ensuring every segment meets broadcast standards, all under expert supervision.
- Execute filming sequences with continuity in mind for seamless editing, and diligently ingest and label all captured footage for efficient post-production workflows.
- Take responsibility for maintaining the assigned ENG (Electronic News Gathering) kit in pristine condition and a constant state of readiness, ensuring all equipment is functional and prepared for immediate deployment.
- Accompany and provide essential assistance to senior cameramen on challenging doorstop and undercover assignments, learning critical techniques for capturing clear audio and visuals while rigorously protecting the identity of anonymous sources.
- Demonstrate a willingness to travel extensively and be away from home for shoots as required, integrating seamlessly with the production team to cover stories across various locations.
- Develop the skill to film anchor links to an excellent audio and visual standard, ensuring punctuality and professionalism at all times during live or recorded segments.
- Under supervision, learn to transform raw footage into compelling, broadcast-ready content, incorporating appropriate transitions, audio enhancements, graphics, and precise colour correction where necessary.
- Strive consistently towards producing high-quality, broadcast-ready edits within agreed timelines, understanding the critical importance of deadlines in news production.
- Act as a proactive team player, fostering good interpersonal and communication skills to maintain strong working relationships with cameramen and editors assigned to each story.
