Job Description
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) invites qualified and ambitious unemployed South African youth to apply for the prestigious Cadet Learnership Programme 2026 / 2027. This 12-month contract opportunity is a flagship Youth Development Empowerment initiative supporting the National Development Plan’s mandate for structured, high-impact youth recruitment schemes. Key Responsibilities
During the 12-month learnership, successful cadets will gain exposure to core departmental functions and perform duties including:
Assisting with the intake, verification, and processing of civic services applications, including birth certificates, identity documents, and passports.
Providing professional, efficient, and courteous frontline customer service to members of the public at designated local offices.
Capturing biometric and demographic data accurately into departmental record-keeping and processing systems.
Supporting general administrative duties, records management, registry filing, and document archiving.
Adhering strictly to standard operating procedures, data privacy regulations, and departmental service delivery standards.
Participating actively in all structured theoretical modules and completing required portfolio assessments on schedule.

South African citizenship and currently unemployed youth.
