Job Description
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) invites qualified, motivated, and unemployed South African youth to apply for the position of Telecom Operator based at their head office in Pretoria, Gauteng. Key Responsibilities
Answer and professionally direct all incoming calls to the relevant DBE section or directorate.
Provide prompt and accurate information regarding services rendered by the department to external stakeholders and citizens.
Screen and scan incoming calls while maintaining a systematic electronic record and logbook of communications.
Maintain and distribute the updated internal DBE staff telephone directory when required.
Provide vital secretarial and message-taking support for officials away from their workstations to ensure continuous workflow.
Supply accurate contact details for Provincial Education Departments and District Offices to public callers.
Ensure the central switchboard system is consistently manned and operational during official departmental working hours.
Deliver exceptional customer-focused telecommunication services aligned with Batho Pele principles.

Requirements
Grade 12 / Senior Certificate or recognized equivalent qualification.
