The Digital Academy is inviting ambitious South African youth living with disabilities to apply for their intensive 1-year Software Developer Programme. This entry-level skills development initiative is specifically designed to bridge the digital skills gap and equip aspiring coders with hands-on technical proficiencies, agile project experience, and workplace readiness to launch successful tech careers in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively in full-time, hands-on software development training, coding workshops, and practical assessments.

• Collaborate within agile teams to design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions and digital applications.

• Learn and apply modern programming languages, web technologies, database management principles, and version control tools (such as Git).

• Adhere strictly to daily attendance schedules from Monday to Friday (08:00 to 16:30) and actively contribute to group project deliverables.

• Maintain and present clear project documentation, portfolio updates, and code reviews throughout the 1-year learnership cycle.

• Emphasize Foundational Tech Skills: Highlight any academic exposure to Computer Applications Technology (CAT), Information Technology (IT), or self-taught coding languages (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Python) on your CV.

• Ensure Accurate Documentation: Prepare clear, certified copies of your Matric certificate, post-Matric IT qualifications (if applicable), South African ID, and valid medical proof of disability.

Interview Preparation

During the screening process, candidates should expect technical and behavioural questions such as:

• "What inspired you to pursue software development, and how do you approach solving a technical or logical problem you have not encountered before?"

• "Can you describe a time when you had to learn a new digital skill or tool under a deadline, and how did you manage your time?"

Candidates can prepare and refine their spoken responses using the Xhosadev Interview Simulator before attending their assessment.

Salary is estimated based on market research.

• Must be a South African citizen.

• Aged between 18 and 30 years old.

• Must be a person living with a disability (valid disability confirmation documentation required).

• Minimum Matric (Grade 12 / NQF Level 4).

• For Matric-only applicants: Minimum of 60% in CAT or Information Technology (IT), and minimum of 60% in Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics.

• An NQF Level 4 or higher qualification in IT Systems Support, Software Development, or a related IT field is advantageous.

• Full commitment and availability to attend the 1-year programme on-site from 08:00 to 16:30 daily.

• Clear, legible copies of Matric certificate/statement of results, highest qualifications, and medical confirmation documents.
