Key Responsibilities

• Undergo a structured 12-month training programme focused on prosecutorial duties and legal principles.

• Participate in continuous assessments to demonstrate competence and readiness for appointment as a Prosecutor.

• Comply strictly with the Code of Conduct and observe Policy Directives as determined by the National Director of Public Prosecutions.

• Prepare for and undertake a written entry examination as part of the selection process.

• Be prepared for potential placement in any NPA office across the country upon successful completion of the programme.

• Understand and adhere to the terms of a written contract outlining the conditions of service.

• Accept that declining a permanent placement offer after training may result in the termination of contract employment.

• Completed LLB degree.

• Final year LLB students may apply, provided that the LLB degree will be completed before the start date of the programme.

• Applicants must be currently unemployed, have no legal experience, and must NOT have participated in any form of Practical Vocational Training for legal practitioners.

• Applicants must be South African citizens.

• Demonstrable competency in acting Independently, Professionally, Accountable and with Credibility.

• Permanent employees of the Department (DOJ&CD) and the NPA meeting the requirements may also apply.
