Key Responsibility Areas
- Under supervision, provides networking and telecommunications support, which includes troubleshooting connectivity issues, assisting with network configurations, and ensuring the uptime of critical municipal services. This involves responding to user queries related to network access and performance, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
- Under supervision, installs hardware and software, encompassing the setup of new network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as deploying operating systems and applications on network-connected systems. This also involves ensuring compatibility, configuring security settings, and integrating new components into the existing infrastructure.
- Under Supervision, performs technical evaluations of hardware and software. This responsibility involves researching new technologies, assessing their suitability for the municipality's current and future infrastructure needs, participating in pilot projects, and contributing valuable insights to procurement decisions to ensure cost-effectiveness and technological advancement.
- Under Supervision, provides a consultancy service to the Units. This entails offering expert technical advice to various municipal departments, helping them understand network capabilities and limitations, and assisting with IT project planning from a network perspective to ensure successful implementation and integration.
- Under Supervision, maintains the network and telecommunications infrastructure for the Municipality. This includes conducting routine checks, performing preventative maintenance, continuously monitoring network performance, applying necessary patches and updates, and meticulously documenting all network changes and configurations to ensure system stability and security.

Requirements
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field or any other related and equivalent qualification.
- Valid motor vehicle driving license.
- Applicants who have already participated in or benefited from Government or private sector Work Experience/Internship/In-service/WIL Programmes for a period of 12 months and above will not be considered.
