Key Performance Areas

• Performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities on a wide array of mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, and turbines, to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespan.
• Conducting on-the-job training and mentorship for junior staff or apprentices, sharing valuable knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
• Investigating unresolved and recurring defects in machinery and systems, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Attending diligently to equipment caring and personal safety protocols, ensuring all work is carried out in strict adherence to Eskom's rigorous safety standards and industry best practices.
• Conducting thorough quality control inspections on work carried out by self and team members, as well as on incoming equipment and parts, to guarantee compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
• Performing Adhoc activities and responding to emergency breakdowns as required, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills under pressure to restore operational integrity swiftly.
• Attending regular team meetings, safety briefings, and technical discussions to stay informed, contribute to planning, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
• Operating and maintaining various workshop machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and grinding machines, to fabricate, repair, and modify components with high precision.
• Interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to guide maintenance and repair procedures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
• Troubleshooting complex mechanical failures and implementing effective repair strategies to restore equipment to full operational capacity.
