Job Description
BHBW South Africa is offering a valuable SHEQ Internship Programme designed to provide comprehensive administrative support within the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) department. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking practical experience in a critical corporate function. The intern will work closely with the SHEQ Manager and the safety team across various regions, as well as provide essential support to the head office workshop, warehouse, and field service teams. Key responsibilities include preparing customer files according to minimum SHE requirements and determining the necessary controls for contractors and sub-contractors operating at BHBW sites. This programme aims to foster a strong understanding of SHEQ principles and their application in a real-world business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Drive SHE awareness through conducting toolbox talks and disseminating general safety flash communications.
Ensure SHE boards are consistently updated with the latest health and safety statistics and relevant appointments.
Assist in conducting all onboarding training and SHE induction processes for new personnel.
Verify the validity of all training certificates and liaise with the SHEQ Manager regarding any identified training gaps.
Maintain an up-to-date training schedule and plan necessary training sessions in conjunction with the Human Capital (HC) team.
Facilitate and coordinate monthly SHE committee meetings, VFL meetings, and incident/accident investigations.
Conduct regular Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) inspections across operational areas.
Register all incidents and accidents, and liaise with first aiders to document all first aid injuries.
Assist in managing Injury on Duty (IOD) claims from the First Medical Report through to the Final Medical Report, including completing requested resumption reports.
Ensure emergency preparedness and response plans are effectively implemented and regularly tested.
Track quality non-compliance issues and support the implementation of corrective actions.
Provide day-to-day administrative support to the SHEQ department.
Assist with the monitoring and roll-out of ISO documents to support standard certification processes.
