DNV is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Renewables Intern to join their Energy Systems business unit in Cape Town, Western Cape. The Energy Systems unit specifically assists customers in navigating the complex transition to a decarbonized and sustainable energy future by ensuring energy systems operate safely and effectively, utilizing increasingly digital solutions. This role is part of the Middle East & Africa (MEA) geographical unit, working with diverse customers and colleagues across the region. The MEA Renewables Advisory Team is experiencing rapid growth, meeting the expanding demand for expert advisory services in wind, solar, storage, and hybrid energy. The team supports utilities, regulators, developers, owners, and lenders with feasibility studies, technical due diligence, conceptual design, procurement support, and independent technical advisory services. The intern will be involved in delivering utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS advisory projects, contributing to an engineering team that continuously evolves its services for renewable energy projects. While primarily desk-based, occasional travel to local South African or international sites, or DNV offices, is expected, estimated at 5% to 20% of the time depending on project involvement. On-the-job training, along with internal or external training opportunities, will be provided, with support and mentoring from principal team members. Key Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of utility-scale wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) advisory projects.
Contribute to the engineering team's efforts in developing and maintaining services for renewable energy projects.
Conduct research and analysis related to renewable energy technologies and market trends.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and emails for clients and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with colleagues and clients to support feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and conceptual design.
Participate in site visits and customer meetings, both locally and potentially internationally, as required.
Manage workflow effectively to meet project deadlines, coordinating with line managers and team members.
Support the team in ensuring energy systems operate safely and effectively.
Engage in continuous improvement initiatives within the team and the company.
Assist in building and maintaining professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, or environmental engineering.
Prior work experience not required, but may be advantageous.
Technical interest in the development of utility-scale Wind, Solar, Hydro, and Battery Storage projects.
Skills in AI development and programming are an advantage.
Dynamic and enthusiastic team player with strong cooperation, knowledge sharing, and support skills.
Strong delivery and results orientation, with attention to detail and ability to manage conflicting work priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to write clear and detailed technical reports.
Strong analytical and judgment skills, with a methodical and systematic approach to problem-solving.
Ability to build good personal and professional relationships and experience in building long-term client relationships.
Strong work ethic, identifying with the Company’s principles, vision, and values.
Inquisitive mindset with an adventurous outlook and willingness to go the extra mile.
Proven ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English.
Good IT skills, experienced in using MS Office suite packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Willingness to travel across the country and internationally.

Desirable qualifications include experience in the renewable energy sector, specifically design of wind, solar PV, hydro, and BESS, and skills in AI programming of Agents, technological development, and an interest in digitalisation.
