Job Description
This Production Intern opportunity is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on assisting with the efficient and safe handling of raw materials and finished goods, adhering strictly to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. The intern will be exposed to various aspects of production, including machine operation support, material handling, quality control, and inventory management. This position offers a foundational understanding of manufacturing processes and contributes to achieving departmental objectives through high standards of quality, productivity, and teamwork. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all production requirements are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Assist machine operators with the manual loading of mandrels and feeding materials into production machinery safely and efficiently.
Learn and develop the skills required to operate production machinery, when required, to support operational requirements and future career progression.
Perform the correct manual wrapping, stacking, packing, and strapping of raw materials and finished goods in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
Accurately complete and attach product labels to finished products before dispatch.
Ensure adequate stock levels of dunnage, pallets, strapping, and other packaging materials are available to support production requirements.
Monitor product quality throughout the production process and immediately report defects, equipment faults, or non-conformances to the Supervisor or Manager.
Assist with loading, unloading, sorting, moving, and transporting raw materials and finished products using approved manual handling techniques or equipment.
Participate in stock counts, inventory verification, and production-related training sessions as required.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping by keeping workstations, equipment, and surrounding areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
Operate a forklift or other authorised material-handling equipment where appropriately licensed, trained, and authorised by management.
Strictly comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
Wear and maintain the prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while performing duties.
Adhere to all production, quality, and safety standards, including the strict prohibition on walking on product bundles.
Contribute to achieving departmental objectives by maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, efficiency, teamwork, and customer service.

Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) with strictly Mathematics and Physical Sciences (Physics).
Previous experience in a manufacturing, steel, engineering or production environment will be advantageous.
0β2 years' experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse or industrial environment will be advantageous.
Experience with production machinery, overhead cranes, forklifts license or steel manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions and production documentation.
Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
Physically fit and capable of performing manual handling tasks.
Willingness to work shifts, overtime and weekends when operationally required.
English language proficiency.
