Mechanical Apprentice Year 3 at Motus Daimler Trucks

Motus Daimler Trucks Polokwane is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Apprentice for Level Year 3. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of truck and bus repair. The apprentice will report to the Service Manager and will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles according to dealer and distributor specifications, ensuring optimal productivity and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring technician to gain hands-on experience in a leading automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive fault diagnosis on trucks and buses to expedite servicing.

• Utilize diagnostic equipment effectively during vehicle examinations.

• Adhere to DCSA procedures and policies during all repair processes, maintaining necessary printouts.

• Ensure accurate fault diagnosis to meet and exceed customer expectations.

• Communicate effectively with Service Advisors, providing clear explanations of vehicle issues.

• Maintain vehicle care and safety standards throughout the repair process.

• Minimize vehicle comebacks through quality workmanship.

• Respond to breakdown calls as required.

• Ensure vehicles are returned to customers in a clean and neat condition post-service.

• Manage parts usage, ensuring all parts are signed for and used on the correct vehicle.

• Return unused parts to the parts department promptly.

• Identify the most cost-effective and accurate solutions for vehicle faults and customer complaints.

• Employ techniques that ensure quality repairs while optimizing time.

• Provide technical and diagnostic services to support mechanics.

• Complete all required forms and documentation accurately as part of the company's service routine.

• Prepare and submit any required reports.

• Contribute suggestions for promotional campaigns and participate in them.

• Maintain a clean and tidy workspace and personal appearance.

• Ensure job cards are fully completed and handed to the Service Advisor upon repair completion, with correct clocking.

• Attend all training courses provided by Daimler and Cargo Motors.

• Assist with other reasonable duties as requested.

• Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.

• N2 qualification including Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Maths, and Motor Trade Theory.
