Job Description
The Takealot Group invites aspiring professionals to join its dynamic team as a Learning and Development Intern. This 18-month contract offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced world of e-commerce, gaining invaluable practical experience and developing essential skills. As an integral part of the HR and L&D team, you will contribute to fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth, supporting various initiatives that empower employees across the organisation. This internship is designed to launch your career, providing a solid foundation in both technical and soft skills within a leading South African e-commerce giant.
Key Responsibilities
- Filing and scanning of essential HR and L&D documents, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and compliance with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act).
- Providing comprehensive HR administration support, including managing the onboarding process for new employees.
- Assisting the HR team and business units with various employee queries, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Administering HR systems such as Axio, Intranet, The Hub, and Greenhouse, ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency.
- Supporting payroll administration tasks, including UI-19, confirmation of employment, and IRP5 documentation.
- Drafting and distributing HR communications, particularly new starter emails, to ensure a smooth integration for new hires.
- Actively participating in and supporting various HR and L&D projects, contributing to strategic initiatives.
- Coordinating training logistics, which includes scheduling sessions, booking venues and resources, and communicating with attendees.
- Maintaining accurate training records, registers, and the L&D training calendar to ensure all learning interventions are tracked effectively.
- Assisting with the tracking of learning interventions and the development of skills development plans for employees.
- Supporting the preparation of SETA submissions, including Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR).
- Providing administrative support for the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content is up-to-date and accessible.
- Supporting the coordination of onboarding-related training and induction sessions, ensuring new employees are well-equipped.

Requirements
- Understanding of HR functions: recruitment, training, benefits, labour relations.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Understanding of Learning & Development processes (training coordination, skills development planning, tracking of learning interventions).
- Knowledge of Skills Development Act and Skills Development Levies Act (SDA/SDLA), and basic understanding of SETA/WSP-ATR submission processes.
- Ability to coordinate and schedule training sessions and maintain training records/registers.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or willingness to learn one.
