The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) invites applications for a dedicated Junior Researcher specializing in Agricultural Mechanization, Agro-processing, and Renewable Energy. Key Responsibilities
- Render high-quality research, either independently under guidance or as part of a collaborative team, focusing on agricultural mechanization, agro-processing, and renewable energy. This involves designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
- Effectively manage personnel within the research team, including aspects such as resource utilization, training, and performance evaluation, while fostering positive working relations and a collaborative environment.
- Successfully market and promote the institute's research services and products to relevant stakeholders, including government bodies, industry partners, and farming communities, ensuring the impact of ARC's work is widely recognized.
- Ensure good planning and meticulous management of all research activities. This includes the effective use of facilities and resources, proactive problem-solving, and liaising with internal and external experts to enhance research outcomes.
- Properly manage allocated budgets in strict compliance with ARC's financial policies and procedures, ensuring that all financial resources are utilized in a cost-effective and proactive manner throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure the successful completion of research projects and programmes in adherence to established scientific standards, timelines, and objectives, producing high-quality deliverables and publications.
- Comply fully with all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and procedures, maintaining a safe working environment for all team members and ensuring ethical research practices.
- Actively involve oneself in the broader activities of the institute, such as participating in research committee and section meetings, attending seminars, and contributing to the intellectual life of the ARC.

Requirements
MSc in Agricultural Engineering or an equivalent qualification with a strong emphasis on Agricultural Mechanization.
Minimum of 1 peer-reviewed publication in a relevant scientific journal.
At least 2 years’ experience in agricultural engineering research, specifically related to the area of MSc study.
Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) will be an added advantage.
A proven track record of competitive fund-raising for research projects will be an added advantage.
Excellent communication and planning skills, essential for effective research dissemination and project management.
