Job Description
Afgri is seeking two Junior Regional Finance Officers to join its team on a 12-month contract. These roles offer an exceptional opportunity for individuals with a BCom Accounting or Financial Management degree, or those currently studying towards one, to gain invaluable in-house training. The programme is designed to immerse candidates in Afgri's silo visit programs, internal audit processes, and financial systems, with the ultimate goal of preparing them for potential appointment as Regional Compliance Officers. This position is ideal for proactive, detail-oriented individuals eager to develop a strong foundation in financial management, risk assessment, and compliance within a leading agricultural enterprise. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring financial integrity and operational adherence across various regions.
Key Performance Areas
Financial Management
- Manage Non-SAP and Sundry stock bi-weekly counts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to inventory control procedures.
- Oversee the Biometrics platform for accurate overtime and leave reporting, contributing to efficient payroll management and compliance.
- Compile and analyse site budgets and costs, providing insights for financial planning, cost control, and performance monitoring.
- Reconcile cash control and resolve outstanding items promptly, maintaining financial integrity and preventing discrepancies.
- Review vehicle fleet and related issues, ensuring cost-effectiveness, proper utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure accurate capturing of credit notes, supporting proper revenue recognition, customer accounts, and financial reporting.
- Prepare inter-site allocations and follow up on exception reports, facilitating smooth inter-departmental transactions and resolving issues.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify and report administration and financial risks, contributing to a robust risk management framework and proactive mitigation strategies.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures across all financial operations, promoting a culture of compliance.
- Conduct internal site audits and follow up on findings, promoting compliance, operational best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Assist sites in resolving audit findings and implementing preventative measures, fostering a proactive approach to risk management.
- Prepare regions for internal audits and review audit programs, ensuring readiness and effectiveness of audit processes.
Management Reporting and Ad Hoc Tasks
- Compile comprehensive reports and information as requested by management, supporting strategic decision-making and operational oversight.
- Complete ad hoc tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to various projects and initiatives.

Requirements
- Completed SAICA Articles or a portion of the required SAICA Articles (SAIPA Articles can also be considered).
- BCom Accounting degree or currently studying towards a BCom Accounting degree (late 2nd year to 3rd year of studies).
- BCom Financial Management can also be considered.
- No prior work experience required.
- Numerical and analytical acumen.

- Proficiency in MS Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP Finance systems.
