The Junior Payroll Officer at Takealot.Com plays a crucial role in the accurate and timely processing of employee remuneration, ensuring compliance with all relevant South African legislation. This position is ideal for a meticulous and proactive individual with foundational experience in payroll administration, eager to develop their expertise within a dynamic e-commerce environment. The officer will be responsible for managing various payroll data inputs, assisting with statutory calculations, resolving employee queries, and contributing to essential reporting and documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Data Processing: Accurately capture new hires, update banking details, process salary changes, and manage terminations within the payroll systems, adhering strictly to agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) deadlines. This includes the timely processing of all required termination documentation.
- Time & Attendance: Verify employee overtime hours and meticulously track various leave types, including annual leave, sick leave, and family responsibility leave.
- Statutory Calculations: Provide support in calculating and processing statutory deductions and filings, such as Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and Pay As You Earn (PAYE).
- Query Resolution: Efficiently handle and resolve routine internal and external payroll-related questions from employees and managers, maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Reporting: Assist with month-end reconciliations and various reporting tasks to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Employee Documentation: Ensure all payroll documentation is properly filed and maintained. Establish and maintain accurate employee records, ensuring that all employee changes are entered correctly and promptly.
- Payroll Projects: Actively contribute to payroll-related projects as and when required, supporting departmental initiatives.
- Benefits: Assist with the management and implementation of employee benefits as they relate to payroll processing.

Requirements
- Business Management / Human Resources Diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 – 2 years’ experience in an HR administration role, with specific experience in a payroll administration environment.
- Experience with time and attendance systems is required.
- Experience working on Employee Self-Service (ESS) systems.
- Knowledge of relevant South African legislation, including BCEA, UIF, SDA, PAYE, and WCA.
- Accounting/Payroll knowledge sufficient to perform journal entries and payroll account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in payroll administration processes and procedures.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
