Job Description
BDO is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join their Business Services and Advisory Department as Junior Accountants. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for aspiring accounting professionals to gain hands-on experience within a reputable firm. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, including individuals, trust companies, and close corporations (cc's), and will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial record-keeping and reporting. This position is ideal for those looking to build a solid foundation in accounting and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility for a portfolio of clients, including individuals, trust companies, and close corporations (cc's).
Perform various engagements such as Compilation Engagements in terms of ISRS 4410.
Conduct Independent Review Engagements in terms of ISRE 2400.
Undertake Accounting Officer Engagements in terms of the Close Corporations Act.
Ensure proper planning is performed before engagement execution.
Adhere strictly to BDO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
Propose necessary journals to clients to maintain accurate financial records.
Communicate effectively with clients to make engagement arrangements and discuss engagement results.
Perform accounting duties including preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting records from source documents for numerous individual companies, cc's, and trusts.
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare audit files and finalize accounts.
Prepare monthly management accounts.

Requirements
BCom Financial Accounting qualification.
Working knowledge of commonly used accounting packages for reporting and ad-hoc processing.
Detailed knowledge of Caseware working papers.
Good communication skills, both internal and external, written and verbal.
