Takealot.com, a leading e-commerce platform in South Africa, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Instructional Design Intern to join its innovative team. Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Content Development: Assist in the design, development, and continuous updating of interactive training materials, e-learning modules, digital learning assets, and comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) tailored for both operational and corporate teams. This involves transforming complex information into easily digestible and engaging learning experiences.
- Data & Learning Analytics: Actively participate in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of operational and learning data. This data will be crucial for supporting informed decision-making, evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the learning function.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional teams, including Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, IT, Facilities, Health & Safety, and HR. The goal is to gather precise training requirements and build targeted, impactful learning solutions that address specific business needs and performance gaps.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare clear, concise reports, intuitive dashboards, and compelling presentations to effectively communicate key learning metrics, training insights, and strategic recommendations to various stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Process Documentation: Support the meticulous development, thorough review, and ongoing maintenance of SOPs, quick-reference guides, and essential process documentation across all relevant business units, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Performance Improvement & Needs Analysis: Monitor operational performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in proactively identifying learning opportunities, critical skill gaps, and proposing corrective training actions to enhance overall productivity and quality.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: Participate actively in problem-solving initiatives by identifying the root causes of performance or skill gaps, proposing practical and innovative instructional solutions, and supporting their successful implementation to achieve measurable improvements.

Requirements
- N6 in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Educational Technology, Human Resource Development, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong computer literacy and command of digital platforms.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Canva) or Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an advantage.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple instructional/training projects simultaneously.
- Capability to collect, interpret, and present data effectively.
- Familiarity with adult learning theories, workplace learning principles, and socioeconomic/public policy factors affecting education and workforce development.
- Ability to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
- Creative energy to bring fresh, innovative ideas to learning design and visual content.
- Proactive, practical, and willing to dive deep into operational workflows.
- Confidence to share feedback, present ideas, and contribute to strategy discussions.
