Graduate Internship at National Credit Regulator

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) is inviting enthusiastic, ambitious, and suitably qualified South African graduates to apply for its comprehensive 18-month Internship Programme for the 2026 / 2027 period. Established under the National Credit Act, the NCR plays a critical role in promoting an accessible, fair, and transparent consumer credit market in South Africa. This internship is structured to equip young professionals with intensive workplace experience, specialist industry knowledge, and foundational skills necessary to build a sustainable, high-impact career in public regulation, legal compliance, finance, and consumer advocacy.

Successful applicants will be based at the NCR head offices in Pretoria and will work under the direct mentorship of seasoned industry practitioners across various dynamic departments, including Legal, Investigations, Debt Counselling, Finance, and Research.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will participate in daily operational workflows and project executions specific to their assigned departments. Core duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with administrative support, data capturing, document indexing, and case record maintenance.

• Conducting primary research, data gathering, statistical compilation, and legislative analysis.

• Supporting compliance monitoring, dispute handling, legal drafting, and preliminary investigation proceedings.

• Drafting professional correspondence, minutes, and departmental reports under supervisory guidance.

• Handling client inquiries, consumer intake processes, and stakeholder communications with professionalism.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational performance goals and compliance benchmarks.

• Participating in structured training workshops, mentorship sessions, and continuous performance appraisals.

• Unemployed South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 years.

• Relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (Degree, National Diploma, or Certificate at NQF Level 6/7) in Law (LLB / BCom Law / BA Law), Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain, Internal Audit, Business Management, Project Management, Journalism, Public Relations, or Facilities Management.

• Must have no prior internship participation or formal permanent work experience in the field of study.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
