The Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) β South Africa's statutory regulatory body established under the Community Schemes Ombud Service Act, 2011 β is inviting qualified LLB or BA Law graduates to apply for its 2026 Legal Graduate Internship Programme based in Pretoria, Gauteng.
CSOS is mandated to regulate the conduct of parties within community schemes β including sectional title schemes, homeowners associations, share block companies, retirement schemes, and housing cooperatives β and to provide accessible dispute resolution services to all relevant stakeholders. As a legal intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to legal research, dispute resolution processes, conciliation, adjudication support, governance compliance, and regulatory advisory in the public sector.
This 12-month internship is ideal for unemployed South African LLB graduates who have not previously participated in an internship programme and are ready to launch their legal careers inside one of South Africa's most specialised regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities
Assist with legal research, case analysis, and preparation of legal documents
Support the dispute resolution team with conciliation and adjudication processes
Review and analyse governance documentation submitted by community schemes
Assist in drafting legal opinions, correspondence, and adjudication orders
Maintain and manage legal case files and records in the CSOS case management system
Monitor compliance with the Community Schemes Ombud Service Act and related legislation
Support senior legal officers with regulatory investigations and stakeholder engagement
Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities
Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or BA of Laws degree from a recognised South African university
Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
South African citizen
Currently unemployed
No previous formal internship programme participation
Basic computer literacy (MS Office)
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Analytical thinking and attention to detail
Good time management and organisational skills
