Bulk Cashier Opportunity at Absa Bank

Absa is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Bulk Cashier to join its dynamic team. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of cash handling operations within the bank. As a Bulk Cashier, you will be responsible for processing large volumes of cash deposits and encashments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict security protocols. Key Accountabilities

• BULK CASH DEPOSITS AND ENCASHMENTS (90%):
• Verify that security seals are intact and acknowledge receipt of cash containers.
• Accurately count cash and reconcile with customer deposit totals.
• Capture deposits on FOS or equivalent banking systems.
• Advise team manager of any cash discrepancies and raise necessary adjustment entries.
• Prepare wages and process encashments as per customer requisitions.
• Encash customer cheques efficiently and accurately.
• Balance own cash at the end of each shift and report any differences to the team manager.
• Raise adjustment entries for any identified differences.
• Facilitate cash payments into and withdrawals from treasury.
• Provide cover for other team members as required and undertake any other duties assigned by the line manager.
• Offer clear advice to customers on the cash process to ensure smooth transaction flow.
• Support and actively adopt the implementation of change initiatives within the department.
• When directly receiving customer enquiries, attempt to resolve them at the first instance using the bank's systems, escalating only when all other efforts are exhausted.
• Inform customers about the value of using the customer Feedback system, explaining how their feedback contributes to service improvement.
• SNAPCHECKS (5%):
• Participate in snap checks as assigned by the team manager to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Risk and Control (5%):
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, the Absa Operational Risk Framework, and internal Absa Policies and Standards. This includes strict adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations.
