Boilermaker Aide at Dwarsriviermine

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a world-class producer of Chrome Ore and a wholly owned subsidiary of Assore Limited, is seeking a dedicated Boilermaker Aide to join its Engineering North team. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a heavy industrial mining environment, supporting the maintenance and reliability of critical mining equipment. The successful applicant will report to the Boilermaker or nominee, contributing to the efficient and safe operation of the mine's engineering division. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop practical trade-related skills and build a career in the mining sector, ensuring the continuous improvement of mine operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring optimum availability and reliability of equipment in support of effective and continuously improved mine operations.
• Assist and execute maintenance on mining equipment including modifications and repairs.
• Ensure own work area is always clean.
• Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom.
• Ensure that artisan/personal toolbox tools are in safe working condition.
• Conduct risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control prior to every task performed.
• Perform lock-out procedure when required.
• Work independently and under the supervision of the Boilermaker/Direct Supervisor.
• Ensure tasks are completed according to set requirements and standards. Tasks include Welding, cutting, grinding and material drilling.
• Adhere to planned maintenance /production schedules and breakdowns to assist in achieving production throughout.
• Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of equipment and related machinery.
• All defects and status of tools and equipment are recorded, signed, and handed over to Foreman.
• Operate stationary and mobile engineering equipment, e.g., TMM machines, conveyor belts, pump stations, compressors, and fire suppression systems.
• Tools, e.g., welding machine, gas cutting equipment, angle grinder and material drilling machine are kept clean, maintained, and functional.
• Tools, material and equipment is utilized according to SOP's and manufacturer specifications.
• Assisting the Boilermaker/Direct Supervisor in the maintenance of primary and secondary equipment when instructed.
• Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported, to the Supervisor.
• Specified components and spares are reconditioned for installation.
• Repaired equipment is tested for functionality before handing over.
• Components are cut and welded according to specifications to reduce workload and time.
• Assist Boilermaker/Direct Supervisor with first level inspection and observing mobile engineering equipment to prevent breakdowns, damaged equipment, injuries, and production delays.
