Artisan Vibration Equipment Mechanician at Sasol

Sasol is seeking a skilled Artisan Vibration Equipment Mechanician Grade 2 to join its dynamic team. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of plant machinery through expert vibration analysis and mechanical maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of critical equipment, contributing significantly to plant safety and stability. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated artisan to apply their technical expertise, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to the overall maintenance strategy of a leading industrial company.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain safety requirements to improve overall plant safety standards.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping practices and strictly adhere to waste disposal procedures.
• Share valuable knowledge and expertise with junior artisans within a known environment/context.
• Actively participate in quarterly performance appraisals with the group leader to foster personal development.
• Identify personal training and development needs, incorporating them into a Personal Development Plan (PDP) with group leader's approval.
• Lead by example, demonstrating commitment and adherence to company values and standards.
• Assist with the development of work instructions to enhance staff competency and operational efficiency.
• Take the lead in team efforts and tasks, guiding colleagues towards successful project completion.
• Be capable of acting as a group leader when appropriate to career progression.
• Contribute to the overall maintenance strategy and direction of the plant.
• Informally mentor learners and other artisans, sharing practical insights and guidance.
• Conduct My IMS (physical inspections) to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
• Work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Attend and actively interact in PDAs (Pre-Job Discussions) and RCAs (Root Cause Analyses) to improve plant safety and stability.
• Provide adequate feedback to the group leader or planning officer on work progress and challenges.
• Ensure correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/upgrades and ensure critical spares are replaced.
• Provide input at toolbox talks to enhance plant safety awareness and practices.
