RINA, a global multinational with over 5,600 employees and 200 offices across 70 countries, is recruiting an Accounting Intern to join its Cape Town office within the Energy Project Solutions Division.
Founded in 1861 in Italy and now operating worldwide, RINA provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision, vendor inspection, engineering consultancy, and training services across a wide range of sectors. Their business model spans the full lifecycle of project development β from concept to completion β ensuring the technical, environmental, safety, and financial sustainability of major infrastructure and energy projects globally.
This accounting internship places you inside a truly international business environment, giving you hands-on exposure to real accounting functions including general ledger reconciliations, VAT reporting, fixed asset management, BEE compliance support, and audit preparation β all within a professional multinational setting in Cape Town.
This opportunity is ideal for a BCom Accounting student or recent graduate who wants to build a structured, globally connected accounting career from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate data entry across Cash Books, Supplier accounts, and Customer accounts
Prepare and process General Ledger, Supplier, Customer, and Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Compile VAT reports and perform VAT reconciliations
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register
Assist in collating and organising documentation in preparation for audit
Pull and distribute monthly customer statements
Support the BEE compliance team with administrative tasks
Provide Vendor Management administrative support
Respond to and process information requests from internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Financial Management, BCom Accounting, or a related finance field (studying towards or recently completed)
Basic understanding of accounting principles, debits and credits, and reconciliation processes
Familiarity with accounting software (Pastel, Sage, Xero, or similar is advantageous)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a professional environment
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
