About the Job
The Western Cape Mobility Department is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring individuals to become Traffic Officers through a full-time study bursary program. This 12-month training course, commencing on 08 June 2026, will equip successful candidates with a Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement. The program is designed to develop skilled professionals who will enforce road traffic, public passenger, and transport legislations, promote crime prevention, and perform essential administrative duties. This bursary is an initiative of the Western Cape Government, aimed at developing local talent and ensuring road safety across the province. Successful candidates will be stationed at various traffic centres including Worcester, Laingsburg, Beaufort West, Oudtshoorn, Somerset West, Brackenfell, Vredenburg, Vredendal, Knysna, Mosselbay, Caledon, Swellendam, and George.
Key Responsibilities
Enforce road traffic, public passenger, and transport legislations.
Provide visible traffic control and policing.
Promote and ensure crime prevention activities.
Perform all administrative activities and related duties.
Adhere to the terms and conditions of the signed 12-month contract, including practical deployment on a 24/7 shift system when needed.

Requirements
Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
Valid motor vehicle license (manual) code B.
Applicant must be physically fit.
No criminal record.
Well versed with the home language of the majority of residents in a specific area where the successful incumbents will be appointed.
Must be younger than 35 years old.
