Process Operator Grade 2 at Sasol

Sasol is seeking a dedicated Process Operator Grade 2 to join its operations in Secunda, Mpumalanga. This role is integral to ensuring the efficient running of the production environment by setting up and operating production machinery. The Process Operator will also provide first-line maintenance support where required, contributing to the overall safety and stability of the plant. This position offers a valuable opportunity for individuals with foundational experience in industrial operations to further develop their skills within a leading global chemicals and energy company, working with hazardous chemicals and complex machinery in a highly regulated environment.

Purpose of Job

To set up and operate production machinery to ensure the efficient running of the production environment, which may include 1st line maintenance support where required.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform cleaning of machines, benches, floors, PPE, etc., according to planned routines.
• Execute packing of materials in storage areas according to planned routines.
• Ensure safe handling, packing, and storage of raw materials, hazardous chemicals, and gas cylinders, including loading and off-loading of vehicles.
• Maintain general neatness and orderliness of the area of responsibility.
• Perform painting tasks as planned and participate in Sasol Nitro Employee Induction, including Emergency Preparedness.
• Undertake ad hoc job-related tasks as requested by more senior personnel and work overtime as and when required.
• Ensure safe and correct use of hand tools and equipment.
• Practice safe handling of process chemicals and explosives.
• Off-load tankers where applicable.
• Prepare and handle Gassing solution.
• Perform cleaning and decontamination of Bulk Truck General.
• Assist with maintenance, including breakdowns and on-site services on MMUs ATM.
• Conduct determination of Gassing properties.
• Assist in maintaining general health, safety, and environmental systems.
• Ensure correct identification and use of PPE and participate in emergency preparedness exercises.
• Conduct routine inspections on safety equipment and ensure maintenance where applicable.
• Adhere to all safety and work standards.
• Obtain a working at heights permit if necessary.
• Conduct OUPA System and BBS observations where applicable, and perform blasting tasks where applicable.
