This role is based within the Regional Operations and Asset Services, specifically in the Production Cord Plant. The primary purpose of the Operator is to manufacture detonator cord at the Prima Cord environment. This position requires individuals who are conscientious, diligent, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure, both independently and as part of a team. A strong commitment to safety and quality is paramount in this critical manufacturing setting.
Key Accountabilities
- Produce detonating cord of different sizes through various stations from C1 to C6.
- Take powder charge according to cord specification using the correct formula.
- Set up the machines according to the product needed using the correct tooling.
- Record log sheets and production tags for traceability.
- Take out samples from each spool for quality check.
- Maintain general housekeeping.
- Perform quality inspection, packing, and labelling of the final product.
- Record production quantities.
- Execute a proper start-up before the beginning of the shift and a proper shut-down at the end of the week or when required.
- Have a full understanding of Epex methodology.
- Be able to work under pressure.
- Be able to work full shifts and overtime.
- Be conscientious and diligent.
- Be detail-oriented.
- Maintain a high standard of integrity.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Be able to work on your own with little supervision.
Working as an Operator at Sasol's Cord Plant involves a hands-on approach to manufacturing detonator cord. A typical day includes setting up and operating machinery, meticulously measuring and charging powder, conducting in-process quality checks, and ensuring all production records are accurately maintained. Requirements
- Grade 12
- Maths and Science will be an advantage
- 6+ months experience in Explosives manufacturing
