Job Description
Premier is offering a 12-month Graduate Risk Internship opportunity at their Salt River Bakery in Cape Town, Western Cape. This programme is designed for motivated individuals seeking self-development and a commitment to learning within the health, safety, and food safety domains. The intern will play a crucial role in coordinating and supporting health, safety, and food safety initiatives, ensuring the company complies with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines and Food Safety standards to minimise work-related injuries and maintain compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) policies and programs.
Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
Prepare and deliver educational seminars and webinars on safety topics.
Review existing policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
Ensure all employees adhere to company rules and regulations regarding safety.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures.
Identify process bottlenecks and propose timely solutions to improve safety protocols.
Oversee workplace repairs, installations, and any other activities that could pose a safety risk.
Update raw material risk assessments in liaison with the Head Office Food Safety Officer.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports on accidents, violations, and their root causes.
Collaborate with HR to establish a robust onboarding process for new employees focusing on safety.
Ensure adherence to business policies, procedures, and processes.

Requirements
Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety OR Advanced Diploma in Risk Management/Safety Management.
Knowledge of SHE (Safety, Health, Environmental) legislation in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental, and Food Safety.
Advantageous: NEBOSH qualification and/or an Environmental course.
Skills: Accuracy and attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving, strong communication and teamwork abilities, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
