Responsibilities and Duties

Successful applicants will perform tasks related to:

• Responding to firefighting incidents
• Emergency rescue services
• Rendering basic medical care
• Fire prevention activities

• Operating firefighting equipment and apparatus
• Maintaining firefighting equipment
• Maintaining fire station facilities
• Supporting related fire and rescue work under supervision

The duties are performed to protect the lives and property of residents in accordance with the Fire Brigade Services Act, Act 99 of 1987.

Special Conditions

Applicants must be physically fit and able-bodied. The physical requirements of the post mean that applicants must have no cardiac or respiratory anomalies. All applicants will be subjected to physical fitness tests as part of the selection process.
