Job Description
The role of a Financial Adviser at Absa involves building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients, bank personnel, and product providers to drive business growth within Absa's bancassurance structure. This position is crucial for assessing client needs, providing tailored financial advice, and ensuring compliance with FAIS regulations. A successful Financial Adviser will proactively identify new business opportunities, manage client portfolios, and contribute to the overall financial well-being of Absa's customers. Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, bank personnel, product providers, and Adviser Support staff.
- Actively participate in reciprocal leads activities and sales/pipeline meetings to identify opportunities for new or repeat business, leveraging Absa’s bancassurance structure.
- Conduct comprehensive client needs assessments using recommended analysis tools, ensuring clients understand the full value proposition offered by AIFA.
- Prepare detailed recommendations and quotes for appropriate risk and investment solutions tailored to individual client needs and profiles.
- Present recommendations to clients, strictly adhering to all FAIS regulations regarding advice given.
- Follow all designated steps in the client engagement process as specified by Absa Advisers.
- Provide regular feedback to the Regional Manager on actions taken to progress leads to successful business conversions.
- Network continuously with stakeholders in Everyday Banking (PGM’s and Regional Managers) and other relevant departments by attending meetings and social gatherings to position Absa Advisers' value proposition.
- Meet and exceed sales and/or growth targets through diligent activity planning and client engagement.
- Identify and approach clients during specific periods in conjunction with the Everyday Advice Executive.
- Utilise leads information from various sources, including Regional Manager listings and own prospecting activities, to determine client financial needs.
- Exclusively use Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon from Aug 2024 onwards) to conduct comprehensive financial needs analyses.
- Obtain client consent to access existing policy information by securing signatures on relevant documents for a holistic view of financial needs.
- Discuss various possible solutions and options with clients, recommending the most appropriate products and solutions.
- Generate and discuss formal recommendations, including product quotes, with clients.
- Complete necessary product application forms upon client acceptance of advice recommendations, ensuring client signatures for transaction consent.
- Gather, generate, and complete all necessary compliance documentation, such as Client Advice Records, ID copies, Financial Needs Analyses, and FICA documents.
- Submit proposal forms to relevant product providers for processing and ensure issued policies align with recommended products.
- Review client portfolios at least once a year and contact clients based on agreed contact strategies to maintain healthy client relationships.
- Report back to the Regional Manager and Everyday Banking stakeholders on the strike rate (conversion of leads to business).
- Seek business opportunities from external sources to grow the book of business and reciprocate leads to Regional Managers and PGM’s.
- Manage own commission earnings by capturing correct Policy Relevant Information (PRI) numbers on the Commission system.
- Verify the accuracy of monthly commission statements received from the Broker Commissions department.

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- FAIS accreditation and a strong understanding of FAIS regulations and compliance.
- Proven experience in financial advisory, relationship banking, or a similar client-facing role within the financial services sector.
- Demonstrated ability to assess client needs and provide appropriate risk and investment solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of financial products, including insurance, investments, and banking solutions.
- Proficiency in using financial needs analysis tools and CRM systems.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio and achieve sales targets.
- Knowledge of FICA and other relevant regulatory compliance requirements.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport may be required for client visits.
