The Gauteng Department of Education is offering temporary employment opportunities for dedicated individuals to join as Examinations Assistants and Quality Assurers. Key Responsibilities
Receive, verify, scan, control, and pack examination scripts for marking and archival.
Ensure the exact count of scripts and marksheets per batch, subject, paper, and examination session.
Identify and resolve any batch discrepancies across subjects and examination venues.
Prepare marking centre files and facilitate script dispatching to designated marking sites.
Distribute scripts to marking teams and monitor batch control throughout the marking process.
Conduct thorough quality assurance checks to confirm all questions are marked and totals are accurate.
Verify that final marks are correctly calculated and transferred to script covers and marksheets.
Reconcile, organize, and archive marked scripts numerically for indexing and retrieval.

Requirements
Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate Vocational.
Must be a registered student at a tertiary institution, an unemployed person with a tertiary qualification, or an unemployed graduate.
Advanced numerical skills with Mathematics or Accounting as a compulsory subject.
Second-year and higher tertiary students will be advantaged.
Ability to work under pressure and adhere strictly to tight deadlines.
Previous administrative experience as an Examination Assistant is advantageous.
Note: Persons writing NSC/SC/AET examinations in 2026, individuals who have taken the VSP, and currently employed individuals are not eligible.
