About the Job
The Gauteng Department of Environment is offering a comprehensive 24-month Internship Programme for unemployed South African graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to gain structured work exposure and training in various environmental and administrative fields. Successful candidates will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, contributing to workplace activities and projects. This programme aims to equip graduates with relevant skills and experience to enhance their employability within the environmental sector and public service.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in structured work exposure and training relevant to the field of study.
Actively engage in workplace activities, projects, and capacity-building initiatives.
Work under the supervision of experienced professionals.
Assist with tasks related to Air Quality management, including data collection and analysis.
Support Pollution & Waste Management initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Contribute to Environmental & Impact Management assessments and reporting.
Assist in the development and implementation of Environmental Policy, Planning & Coordination strategies.
Support Compliance & Enforcement activities within the department.
Provide administrative support within the Office of the Head of Department.
Assist with Financial Management tasks, including budgeting and reporting.
Contribute to Organisational Development initiatives and process improvements.
Support Information Communication Technology (ICT) projects and operations.
Assist with Communications and Graphic Design tasks as required.
Participate in Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation activities for departmental projects.

Requirements
Completed National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree / Honour’s degree in Environmental Science/Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Earth Science, Natural Science, Pollution & Waste Management, Geography, Environmental & Impact Management, Environmental Policy, Planning & Coordination, Compliance & Enforcement, Public Management, Public Administration, Office & Technology Management, Financial Management, Accounting Science, Work-study / Operations Management/ Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Informatics, Media Studies, Graphic Design, Social Science, Public Management & Governance, or Monitoring & Evaluation.
Must be an unemployed South African graduate.
Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
Must not have participated in any previous internship programme.
Must be residing in Gauteng Province.
