Data Scientist Entry Level (Contract)
Job Description
As a Junior Data Scientist, you will join a collaborative data team focused on driving data-driven decision-making. Under the mentorship of senior scientists, you will move beyond theory to build, deploy, and monitor machine learning models in a live production environment.
Key responsibilities involve conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), performing feature engineering, and developing predictive algorithms. You will also collaborate with Business Intelligence (BI) teams to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for stakeholders.
Technical Requirements
To be successful, you should demonstrate proficiency in the following:
Programming: Strong command of Python and R. Familiarity with MATLAB is a plus.
Big Data Tools: Exposure to PySpark, Hadoop, and Hive.
Cloud Platforms: Basic knowledge of AWS or Microsoft Azure.
Data Wrangling: Ability to clean and transform large, complex datasets for analysis.
Statistics: Solid understanding of statistical modeling and predictive analytics.
Version Control: Experience using Git for collaborative coding.
Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.).
Preferred: A Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field.
Certifications: Professional certifications from platforms like Coursera, SAS, or Microsoft are highly regarded.
Experience: While listed as entry-level, the client looks for 1–3 years of experience, which can include intensive university research or specialized internships.
