Motus Garsfontein Multifranchise is excited to announce a vacancy for an Apprentice Level 1, reporting directly to the Service Manager. This exceptional opportunity is tailored for individuals who possess a natural flair for repairing motor vehicles and aspire to become fully qualified Motor Mechanic Technicians. The successful candidate will embark on a comprehensive Apprentice Training Programme, designed to span a maximum of three years, providing hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge essential for a thriving career in the automotive industry. This role is a foundational step for aspiring mechanics in Gauteng, offering a structured pathway to professional accreditation and expertise.
As an Apprentice Level 1, your daily activities will be highly practical and supervised, focusing on learning the fundamentals of vehicle maintenance and repair. You will assist experienced technicians with various tasks, starting with basic operations such as jacking up vehicles, placing trestles, and safely removing/replacing parts and units. Lubricating and changing oils according to manual specifications, under supervision, will be a regular duty, alongside removing and fitting air and oil filters, and batteries. You will be actively involved in assisting with all vehicle repairs, gaining exposure to different mechanical systems and diagnostic processes. Beyond the workshop, attending prescribed technical and level courses is mandatory, ensuring a strong theoretical foundation complements your practical skills. This apprenticeship will significantly develop your technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of automotive engineering, preparing you for a successful career as a Motor Mechanic Technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the repair of vehicles under the direct instructions and supervision of a qualified Technician.
- Safely remove and replace parts and units from various types of vehicles.
- Properly jack up vehicles and place trestles for secure working conditions.
- Lubricate and change oils as per manual specifications, under supervision.
- Remove and replace wheels, ensuring correct torque settings.
- Remove and fit air and oil filters, adhering to service protocols.
- Assist with all general vehicle repairs, learning from experienced professionals.
- Remove and fit batteries, understanding electrical safety procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness of parts and maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the workshop.
- Attend all prescribed technical and level courses to gain theoretical knowledge and certifications.
- Perform any other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time by the Service Manager.
- Keep tools and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Maintain clean overalls and a tidy work area, adhering to professional standards.
- Strictly follow all safety rules and regulations within the workshop environment.
