The V&A Waterfront, Africa's most visited waterfront destination and one of Cape Town's most iconic precincts, is offering 2 Hospitality Intern positions at Makers Landing β the V&A Waterfront's vibrant food-focused cultural destination that celebrates South African food culture, supports culinary talent, and hosts a thriving calendar of food events and experiences.
This is a structured Work Integrated Learning (WIL) internship ideal for hospitality, food service, tourism, or culinary students who need workplace experience to complete their qualification. Working at Makers Landing gives you real, hands-on operational exposure within one of the most dynamic hospitality environments in South Africa β at the centre of Cape Town's most internationally recognised destination.
As a Hospitality Intern, you will support the daily operations of Makers Landing β from storage and equipment management to hygiene standards, project coordination, inventory control, and stakeholder communication. This is not a passive learning experience. You will take ownership of real operational responsibilities from day one, building the practical skills and industry connections needed to launch a meaningful career in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with overseeing wet and dry storage areas β ensuring correct organisation, labelling, and stock rotation
Assist with commercial kitchen equipment and demo kitchen equipment management and maintenance
Help maintain and uphold general hygiene standards across the Makers Landing environment
Coordinate day-to-day projects and checklists in line with operational schedules
Assist with inventory management and stock control across departments
Maintain accurate records and reports as required by management
Support communication between internal departments and external stakeholders
Assist with compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all operational areas

Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Tourism Management, Culinary Arts, Events Management, or a related field
Must be in possession of a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) letter from your academic institution (required)
South African citizen or permanent resident
Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to work
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospitality environment
Genuine passion for food, hospitality, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
Computer literate β proficient in Microsoft Office
