Job Description
The Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) β one of South Africa's most prestigious Chapter 9 constitutional institutions β is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for its 24-Month Internship Programme 2026. This is a rare and highly competitive opportunity to gain structured, hands-on experience inside the government body mandated to investigate maladministration, uphold accountability, and protect the rights of all South African citizens.
Interns will be placed across multiple professional disciplines at the PPSA Head Office in Pretoria and at provincial offices in all nine provinces. This programme is ideal for graduates with NQF Level 6 or 7 qualifications who are passionate about governance, justice, public accountability, and building a meaningful career in the South African public sector.
Successful candidates will be required to sign a secrecy declaration and a performance agreement within two months of appointment, and will undergo full security vetting and background checks prior to placement.

Requirements
National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree at NQF Level 6 or 7 in a relevant field
Currently unemployed South African graduate
No previous participation in a public sector internship programme
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Must be willing to undergo security clearance and vetting
