Job Description
The National Treasury of South Africa β the government department responsible for managing the country's national budget, fiscal policy, public finances, and economic planning β is offering 14 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) positions for the 2026/27 programme year, based at their Head Office in Pretoria, Gauteng.
This 18-month WIL programme is designed specifically for N6 TVET College students who require formal workplace exposure to complete their National Diploma. The programme gives successful candidates the rare opportunity to fulfil their practical training hours inside one of South Africa's most important government departments β combining their theoretical knowledge with real-world work experience across financial management, business operations, public administration, HR, and marketing functions.
Participants will be placed in relevant operational units within the National Treasury that align with their field of study. This structured, government-backed programme significantly enhances employability, workplace readiness, and professional competence β and equips TVET graduates with a credible, prestigious work experience credential that sets them apart in the South African public and private sector job market.

Qualifying N6 Fields of Study
Applications are open to students who have completed their N6 Certificate in one of the following fields:
Financial Management
Business Management
Marketing Management
Office Administration
Public Management
Human Resources Management
Key Learning Areas
Successful WIL learners will be placed in relevant National Treasury business units and exposed to key learning areas aligned to their N6 qualification. Specific placement units and learning areas will be confirmed upon successful appointment. These may include:
Government budgeting, financial planning, and expenditure monitoring
Public sector administration and governance processes
HR operations and employee relations within government
Office management, document control, and executive support
Marketing communications and stakeholder engagement
Public management and policy implementation support
Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package (to be discussed β salary not publicly specified. Estimated R5,000 β R6,500 per month based on comparable South African government WIL stipend rates, 2026)
Requirements
Completed N6 Certificate in a qualifying field from a recognised TVET / FET College
Official placement letter from your TVET institution confirming that 18 months of workplace experience is required to complete your National Diploma
South African citizen
Currently unemployed
No prior full-time work experience required
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Computer literate β basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Reliable transport to and from the Pretoria office
Motivated, professional, and committed to completing the full 18-month programme
