Lecturer/Junior Lecturer: Construction Management at CPUT
Job Description
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is seeking to appoint an ECP Lecturer/Junior Lecturer in Construction Management & Quantity Surveying for a 6-month contract position. This role is based at the Bellville Campus in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to academic initiatives, and fostering learning aligned with industry needs and departmental goals. The position involves incorporating teaching & learning, research & innovation, and community engagement into the academic project, preparing prospective graduates in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Facility Management, and Construction Health & Safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lecturing on the Diploma, Advanced Diplomas, and Postgraduate Diploma levels.
Curriculum development and academic development.
Academic administration and conducting research.
Postgraduate supervision and participation in professional body accreditation (SACPCMP and SACQSP).
Participation in Quality Assurance activities and Industry Advisory Committees & partnerships.
Assisting with Community engagement, Work Integrated Learning (WIL), and service-learning initiatives.
Assisting with recruitment, admissions, and marketing efforts.
Personal and professional development.

Requirements
Junior Lecturer: BSc Hons / PG Dip in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, with the first degree in construction/building. Registered for a Masters in a relevant area of study within the Built Environment. At least 1 year relevant teaching experience in higher education or 1 year industrial experience in the Built Environment.
Lecturer: A Master’s degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying, with the first degree in construction/building. At least 2 years relevant teaching experience in higher education or 2 years industrial experience in the Built Environment.
Recommendation: Registration with a relevant professional body, namely SACPCMP or SACQSP. Familiar with the learner management system at CPUT, namely Blackboard.
Language proficiency: English and any other official language.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Computer literacy in MS Office with good organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the latest technology and developments in the field of construction management, quantity surveying or facility management.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of continuous evaluation and integrated assessment.
Strong learner focus.
Adaptability, Interpersonal skills, Coaching and mentoring skills.
